Where is the Germiest Spot in Your Car?
What do you think is the germiest spot in your car? The steering wheel? The driver–side door handle? The front–seat cup holder? According to research, the dirtiest spot – as measured by the amounts of bacteria, yeast, and mold – is the driver’s side floor mats. Thankfully, we don’t touch the floor mats very often, so we don’t have to be as concerned about keeping them germ-free. The car trunk is the second germiest spot in the car.
Covered with spilled food or coffee, the front seat cup holder is the third germiest spot in the car. Unlike the trunk and the driver’s side floor mat, many car drivers use the front seat cup holder. The easy solution to keeping the cupholder clean: keep a small spritzer bottle of HOCl in your car to frequently disinfect the area.
