Using HOCl for Wound Care on Diabetic Animals
HOCl, when used as a wound cleaner, greatly reduces the bacterial count present in the wound. The study that this article references showed that over the course of twelve days, once-daily use of HOCl for the cleansing of wounds on diabetic mice showed a significant decrease in the bacteria present in wounds that were healing. Keeping wounds free of bacteria while healing promotes quicker recovery, and reduces scarring.
